Dear County fans, Stopfordians, Charlton supporters, and anyone else from The Football Family joining us today, a very warm welcome to your Sunday edition of The Scarf My Father Wore.
A point gained or two dropped yesterday? Your answer might vary depending on whether you’re still hopeful of County having a crack at the automatic promotion places, or you’d be more than happy with the play-offs in our first season back in League One. We’ll take a closer look at the 0-0 draw tomorrow. Today, I’ve got 23 photos from yesterday’s lunchtime date with the Addicks.
Today’s edition is sponsored by Beespoke Cleaning. A big thank you to Vicky.
Finally, I’m currently walking every street in Stockport to raise money for mental health charity Mentell. If you’d like to make a donation to help me reach my target, please click here.

Beespoke Cleaning can provide a weekly, fortnightly or monthly service for you
Look how spotless this place is. I’m not saying your place isn’t, but it would be nice to get a bit of help with the cleaning, wouldn’t it? Especially for County fans, as they spend a lot of time away from home. There’s long trips to Exeter, Peterborough and Wycombe coming up. Wouldn’t it be nice to get back to Stockport from your travels and find your home in immaculate condition.
Beespoke Cleaning can do exactly that for you, whether you’d like their services once a week, once a fortnight or even once a month. The business has been operating since 2010, with a long list of satisfied regular customers, as cleaning projects are completed in a timely manner and with the highest level of quality.

It’s Bolton next up for County. First things first, let’s give this beautiful picture an airing. The moment Ash Palmer celebrated his late headed equaliser at the Cheadle End that took Bolton to extra-time in our FA Cup first round replay in November 2021.

#14 - County v Wrexham, 30 April 2005
After an abysmal 2004-05 season - in which County were rock bottom of League One from September - Stockport Express sports editor Simon Smedley gave his assessment on the campaign.
I think I’d prefer not to dwell too much on the ‘high spots’ of County’s 2004-05 season, I’m sure you’ll all understand. There’s been precious little to warm the old cockles this term, save for a thumping win at the seaside, a convincing cup win over Huddersfield and the success against MK Dons just before Christmas with new boss Chris Turner sat in the stands looking on.
The game at Huddersfield the other week was an absolute cracker when we came so close to winning that one of course, while I also enjoyed the trip to Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday. Hillsborough is a wonderful stadium, and the atmosphere - especially considering that the ground was only half full - was electrifying. But battling County did us proud on that day, and I’m sure made Chris’s weekend that much more bearable after eight defeats on the spin. The lads showed plenty of guile and spirit at Wednesday, something they are sure to need next season in League Two.
I bet the large majority of games will be real battles. The work ethic at County must be prevalent next term, of that there’s no doubt. It’ll be interesting to see who Chris brings in during the summer so things can hopefully be toughened up still further.
I’m really looking forward to the Gala Dinner tonight, but as to who wins the individual awards I’m a bit stuck.
Player of the Year? That would have had Warren Feeney stamped all over it had he not left us recently, otherwise I can see some of the younger lads being in with a shout. Last year’s Young Player of the Year Ashley Williams has done well this term and crucially has scarcely missed a game.
Jim Goodwin’s battled his way through the campaign and led by example while in possession of the captain’s armband lately, while John Hardiker has also shone on quite a few occasions. Some of the younger lads have really pleased me since Chris took over though. The likes of Adam Le Fondre, Damien Allen, James Spencer, Michael Raynes, Evan Horwood and Kevan Hurst have all shone in a struggling side, so it will be nice to see those lads partaking in a well-deserved drink tonight!
Have a great summer.
