Des Junior
Des Junior loves writing about County. But he can never be arsed doing match previews. They’re a bit dull, aren’t they? Will Collar’s out for a month with diarrhoea… blah blah blah…tomorrow’s referee has handed out more cards than Moonpig…blah blah blah…County haven’t won at Birmingham for a thousand years.
Fortunately, he has a number of fellow County content creators to call upon. Here’s their thoughts, general chit-chat and score predictions, ahead of tonight’s second group game in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. Win, and we’re pretty much through with a game to spare.

Are you bothering with tonight?
In the immortal words of Half Man Half Biscuit, I'll be swerving the Checkatrade. Tempted to go to the Tranmere game but I have absolutely no interest in a game against a bunch of children. Fully expecting us to win though given that most of Everton's better kids will be involved in the senior team for their Coca-Cola Cup game at the same time.

What’s Challinor thinking for tonight?
I'm expecting Chally to play a rotated squad giving players that need it a much needed runout. I think getting 11/11 on FanHub will be almost impossible, and with the absence of a match preview (probably!), we won't know either. It should be treated for what it is: a runout.
That said, I think whatever team we put out we should have enough to beat Everton's kids.

Can we blame Saturday on the referee, or did we throw two points away ourselves at Crawley?
Of course we can blame Saturday’s defeat on referee James Linington, because his input was crucial in providing a very decent Crawley side with their equaliser via a distinctly dubious penalty. To add insult to injury, the referee’s signalling for the penalty was to say the least bizarre, his outward sweep of both arms clearly indicating “no penalty guys, go away” before the apparent change of mind that did for County’s chances of winning the game.
You might say that County contributed in no small way to their own difficulties, and I would not disagree. It was unfortunately clear that at the other end of the pitch we found finishing an elusive art, but I maintain that despite these obvious shortcomings County would have returned home with all three points but for Mr Linington’s hallucinatory episode.
I must also say it dismays me that County have not utilised the attacking partnership that worked so well for us previously, namely that of Tanto and Louie Barry. Barry gets subbed; Tanto comes on. We need them feeding off each other which we know that they can do… WHEN THEY ARE BOTH ON THE PITCH!
In addition, I would hope that Fevrier is not to become a regular bench-warmer, as he and Diamond have shown rare quality going forward.
You may think my judgement on Mr Linington is harsh, but I note that Paul Marsden is booked to take charge tonight at Edgeley Park, so I give my latest score prediction with no confidence at all.
Ian follows County home and away, producing detailed match reports every week, along with lots of other great content. Head over to hedgegrower.blogspot.com.

Hatters Matters: County 3 Everton 1 (I’m not falling into the same trap as last time and thinking we’ll go youthful)

#8 – Nick Chadwick, Everton
It’s a pretty good quiz question. Who scored County’s first goal in non-league? It was of course Nick Chadwick, with a late Friday night equaliser at Forest Green on the opening weekend of the 2011-12 season. Chadwick’s career started at Everton, where he made a handful of appearances in the top flight, and also scored for the Toffees in their 3-0 win against County at Goodison Park in the League Cup, back in September 2003.
