Dear County fans, Stopfordians, Morecambe supporters, and anyone else from The Football Family joining us today, a very warm welcome to your Saturday edition of The Scarf My Father Wore.
There’s not much from me today as I’m surrounded by Citeh fans on the Chester to Manchester train (they’ve got Luton at home… come on the other Hatters!) and I’m losing the will to live. I’ll leave you in the capable hands of Ian Brown for today’s edition, and if County are in League One by teatime, I promise you’ll get a ton of photos and articles from myself over the next few days!
Today’s edition is sponsored by A Star Clean and The Sleep Nanny. A big thank you to both Patrick and Lisa.
Finally, I’m currently walking every street in Stockport to raise money for mental health charity Mentell. If you’d like to make a donation to help me reach my target, please click here.
Total distance so far: 136.36 miles
Total steps so far: 217,174
Total raised so far: £1,666
Total completed streets so far: 271 (Click here for the full list, which includes reports and photos from every day of the walk.)
Further information on the walk can be found by clicking here.
Des Junior
Des Junior loves writing about County. But he can never be arsed doing match previews. They’re a bit dull, aren’t they? Paddy Madden’s out for two games with an ingrown toenail…blah blah blah…tomorrow’s referee has handed out more cards than Moonpig…blah blah blah…County haven’t won at Birmingham since 1672.
Fortunately, he has a number of fellow County content creators to call upon. Here’s their thoughts, general chit-chat and score predictions, as County look to clinch a return to the third tier for the first time since 2009-10.

It’s 5pm today. County have just clinched automatic promotion to League One. Pitch invasion - yes or no?
Absolutely and most definitely NO!
Cashy and his team have worked long hours preparing that masterful playing surface, so we do not want anyone other than players, officials and coaches on the pitch either before, during or after the game messing that surface up ahead of our final home game against Accrington next weekend.
Apart from the damage a mindless pitch invasion might do to the best playing surface in League Two (and quite likely the EFL) there’s the obvious likelihood of punitive action by the EFL following any pitch incursion, and our record is not great in that respect, having been fined on numerous occasions for transgressing.
The fines have had little impact on our response to the matter and pitch invasions have continued to happen. Do we think that the suits at the EFL are so in love with us that they won’t up the ante and move to the next level of sanction, such as a points deduction if we transgress again?
Surely the existence of the mere possibility that a points deduction might happen signals that caution is called for and a bit of restraint.
“A points deduction won’t happen,” we’re told on social media, but that’s an assessment based on what? That it’s never happened before? I’d say that’s a flimsy plank upon which to rest a case!
No, forget EP pitch invasions – a celebration in North Wales on 27 April would seem to be the ideal alternative…
