If the Gavin & Stacey cast were various characters from either side of the County-Wrexham divide…

Dear County fans, Stopfordians, Wrexham supporters, and anyone else from The Football Family joining us today, a very warm welcome to your Thursday edition of The Scarf My Father Wore.
Gavin & Stacey is a British sitcom about two families: one from England, one from Wales. Hmm, that scenario sounds familiar. A fanzine-style article if ever there was one…
Today’s edition is sponsored by Guerrilla Chicken Spirits. A big thank you to Paul.
You’ll also see the advert for my comedy night tomorrow. If you’ve not got any plans, come and join us! We’ve got a fantastic line-up, including Mike Newall (Britain’s Got Talent) and Chris Washington (Live from the BBC, Mock the Week, Richard Osman’s House of Games). Drop me a message if you’d like to come along. (ONLY 4 TICKETS LEFT!)
Finally, I’m currently walking every street in Stockport to raise money for mental health charity Mentell. If you’d like to make a donation to help me reach my target, please click here.
Total distance so far: 253.75 miles
Total steps so far: 418,084
Total raised so far: £2,292
Total completed streets so far: 474 (Click here for the full list, which includes reports and photos from every day of the walk.)
Further information on the walk can be found by clicking here.
Des Junior
Bryn: Dave Challinor
The rock of the family. Solid and dependable. Just don’t let him get too pissed or he’ll end up on the karaoke belting out “fuck you Wrexham we’re gonna win the league”.
Chinese Alan: Jimmy from The Scarf Bergara Wore
Turns up to the pub wearing a Wrexham shirt. All his mates tell him to take it off and stop being a tit, and he ends up having to wear a bin bag for the rest of the night.
Dave Coaches: Andy Cannon
Shagging Nessa one minute, Gwen the next. Wearing blue one minute, red the next. Make up your mind, lad.
Dic Powell: Andy Mangan
How on earth does he manage to sell three steaks for just 87p? God knows. Same goes for how he managed to get eight tickets in the away end for his Scouse mates.
Deano: The referee from Saturday
A sandwich short of a picnic. The sort of bloke who asks for a half-tea half-coffee. Shouldn’t be left unsupervised to work on his own.
Doris: Chester FC
The next-door neighbour. Died a while back, sadly.
Gary and Simon: Nick and Hannah from SK3 TV
You’ll never see one without the other. Come as a pair, these two.
Gavin: Phil Parkinson
Dull. Probably does something boring for a living. Like working in IT. Or managing Wrexham.
Gwen: Mark Stott
Constantly slaving away to keep his family well-fed and watered. An omelette here, a flight to Eastleigh away there. An omelette here, a £100,000 a week contract for Nick Powell there.
Jason: Wrexham’s American fanbase
Lives abroad. Comes visiting from time to time. Bit annoying.
Lucy: Gaz from Chips for a Quid
We’ve never actually seen what he looks like. Seems quite intelligent, though. Just getting on with his life in the background, probably doing his Duke of Edinburgh or dicking round the Dordogne.
Mick: Wayne from The Turf
Recently become a bit of a minor celebrity. Probably wasn’t expecting to find a load of Disney cameras and American tourists in his car park when he turned up for work in the morning.
Nessa: The Fearless in Devotion crew
They’ve got loads of celebrity mates. They hang out with Elis James, they’ve had Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on the podcast, and they once had a cracking night with Russell Brand.
Owain Hughes: Des Junior from The Scarf My Father Wore
You’ll be trying to get on with your day but he’ll be pestering you, asking to take your photo for his website. And he often makes no sense at all.
Smithy: Wrexham’s tannoy announcer
He’s probably quite sound, but when he’s turned his volume up to 11 and he’s screaming “BACK THE BOYS, MAKE SOME NOISE” at you, he’s definitely getting on your tits.
Sonia: James McClean
Quite pretty to look at, but a bit of a c*nt.
Stock up on spirits for your spring adventures, and enjoy a 10% discount!
Guerrilla Chicken Spirits has a range of four show-stopping spirits that challenge the industry by using a reusable flask and refill pouches rather than single use glass bottles.
They want you to enjoy their spirits and use their reusable flask forever. They would love that none of their bottles need to be recycled and certainly never hit the landfill.
Keep your bottle chillin’ in the fridge, ready for enjoying at home, or ready cold for taking to a spring picnic or a party in a park!
Photo of the day
Adams Park, Wycombe
Paul from Guerrilla Chicken Spirits was the match sponsor at Adams Park recently, for Wycombe’s home game against Wrexham. He’s a massive Chairboys fan, and also, as you can see below, a thoroughly good bloke.

#31 - County v Sheffield United, 20 November 1999
‘Rodger Recedes for Children in Need.’ What a headline!
Our very own physio Rodger Wylde will be doing the unthinkable on Friday 26 November. Yes, the man famous for his long locks is having his hair chopped for charity. It is fair to say that his hair has been his trademark throughout his long and illustrious career but Rodger has agreed to have his hair cut in public - to raise money for Children in Need.
This event will form the centrepiece of a fun-filled Children in Need evening in the Firstec Restaurant which will include music and a ‘full monty’ by kit manager John Bishop.
