NEXT HOME GAME: Burton Albion – Saturday 29 March, 12.30pm
NEXT AWAY GAME: Wrexham – Saturday 22 March, 3pm
Dear County fans, Stopfordians, Bolton supporters, and anyone else from The Football Family joining us today, a very warm welcome to your Sunday edition of The Scarf My Father Wore.
I’d like to start today by sharing the following message I received this morning from Lou Spalding’s niece, Donna:
“I wanted to extend to you and everyone commenting on your posts a huge heartfelt thank you for the tributes paid to Uncle Lou over the last few days - or Uncle Spook as his great nieces and nephews called him! Then, yesterday, you filled our family with even more pride and love. I live in Ireland but I was listening to the Bolton game and to hear the applause was wonderful. Of course we all knew Lou so well, but to see him through the eyes of others is honestly one of the biggest healing moments for me. So thank you, all of you - you all did him proud!”
There was a beautiful flow to events in the second half during yesterday’s game. An emotional applause for Lou in the 68th minute, followed by a powerful rendition of The Scarf My Father Wore, and then Tanto’s stunning goal at the away end. A fitting tribute to Lou, and another fantastic result for Dave Challinor’s men. There’s lots of smiles and happy faces in the 30 photos below.
Today’s edition is sponsored by Kingsway Carpets. A big thank you to Neil.

The BBC Sport team have made me look a right nerd on this one, notepad and camera in hand. But it’s still a cracking photo, taken in the aftermath of Tanto’s winner at Bolton yesterday!

#21 - County v Bristol Rovers, 6 December 2005
Who remembers County’s game at Leyton Orient in November 2005? It was a 2-2 draw under Chris Turner, so it might not be at the top of your list of County memories. However, I’m sure those who travelled on the club coach from Edgeley Park still remember their trip to London rather well…
I thought I would make a brief mention regarding the recent Supporters Club coach to Leyton Orient. For those who weren’t aware, the coach did not actually arrive at Leyton Orient until 4.15pm, leaving those who travelled by this method to luckily catch the final 25 minutes or so of the game.
Firstly, we apologise to all the supporters who travelled on the coach for the brief glimpse of some football and of… London! We have raised this issue with Kevan Taylor here at Stockport County, who has forwarded our concerns on to the coach company. We currently await a reply and will endeavour to keep you all informed on this issue.
Meanwhile, special thanks must go to Leyton Orient and County director Norman Beverley for arranging to keep the gate open to the ground so late and avoiding the prospect of having to pay to watch the final minutes of the game.
Also, thanks to Ian Dooley, who without his map reading skills, I think we would still have been going around Milton Keynes!
