At the end of County’s game at Peterborough yesterday, Dave Thompson, Steve Cunningham, Jamie Reding, Dave Wardle and Eddie Owen started their epic four-day 113-mile walk back to Stockport.
After ticking off 20 miles yesterday, here they are setting off from the village of Whitwell this morning. They’re staying in Nottingham tonight, Buxton tomorrow, and then completing the walk in time to watch County’s home game with Huddersfield on Monday.

#36 - County v Wrexham, 30 April 2005
A County manager wishing he could give the three points to Wrexham. Don’t think you’d hear that these days!
This afternoon’s game is a massive game for Wrexham for the obvious reason that they can still stave off relegation.
I think that everybody in football has a feeling for them because of the ten points that they were deducted for going into administration due to the fact that they were suffering some tough and difficult times off the field.
I feel that Denis Smith and his staff have done a magnificent job in keeping the spirits going and for winning the LDV Vans Trophy a few weeks ago. The loyal supporters who have stuck by their team to try and keep their club alive also deserve great credit.
I wish I could give them the three points this afternoon to help them stay in the division because I think they deserve it. Naturally, though, we are representing Stockport County and we have to be professional, to the other clubs in and around the relegation zone, and obviously for our own supporters.
